Hey everyone, just wanted to add some basic rules for ProPigments 2.0.  Because they are such heavy dye loads, when you are formulating any color, besides the pure pigment of red, yellow, blue, orange, green, and purple, you need to make sure that you have pre-lightened the hair to a 10, at least an even 10, not where the midshaft and the ends are still yellow.  Once you’ve got that pre-lightened, you need to pre-tone the hair to remove any of that leftover unwanted natural pigment.  You can pre-tone with our 10 silver pearl/10 SP with 5 volume and spray treat for 10 minutes to remove all yellow.  Rinse that out, light shampoo, then mix your formula of your ProPigment 2.0.  Make sure when you’re mixing your direct dye that you start out with your white and/or your clear, then add your least dominant color to that and then your dominant color to that, mixing it along the way to make sure that you get your desired color.  The white should be added to every formula because it acts as an adhesive and it helps create longevity and brightness to the hair.  If you want to shear  it out and make it a lighter color, use your clear in with that formula also, then apply it however you want to apply.  Let it process for at least 20 to 30 minutes with or without heat; if you’re using heat make sure that you are using a cap and it’s under medium heat, then it must cool for at least 10 minutes.  Rinse out at the bowl with as cool of water as they can stand and then finish off with Colorfuel to close the cuticle layer down.  If you send your client home with the Colorfuel their ProPigment 2.0, which is a direct dye, will last longer, but remember it lasts from shampoo to shampoo, so if a person shampoos every day it’s going to fade faster than if they shampoo once a week and they need to use ProRituals shampoo, which is a very low pH, and then apply again with the Colorfuel to lock in the color.

I hope this helps everyone because we actually love the ProPigment 2.0.  It is working for us so well we have clients coming back and actually purchasing the 4 ounce tube of color in between there for lightning sessions and gives you another opportunity to have a product to sell them, so they’re not going to a grocery store or a Walmart to pick up a direct dye.  They can purchase ProPigments 2.0 right from you in the salon.  I actually put it on myself and retail it to my clients that are getting the direct dyes.
